Taqueria Hidalgo is a family-run kitchen on the north side of McKinney's McDonald Street corridor — the kind of counter-service spot where the tortillas get griddled to order and the salsa isn't from a jug. It's built its name the slow way: through daily regulars, a steady DoorDash following, and a $2 street taco that hasn't chased inflation.

The menu runs deep past tacos — tortas built on a dressed telera roll, mariscos for the Gulf-food regulars, platillos with rice and beans for a full sit-down plate, and meat by the pound when the order is for more than one person.
